The New Look fashion chain is set to withdraw its operations from the Republic of Ireland after its Irish arm, New Look Retailers (Ireland) Ltd, entered liquidation on Thursday. This decision follows several years of ongoing losses and an increasingly unpredictable trading environment in the region. As a result, about 347 employees across 26 stores located in major cities such as Dublin, Cork, Galway, Wicklow, and Letterkenny face potential redundancies.
Provisional liquidators were immediately appointed at the High Court, and New Look has initiated a 30-day consultation process with staff to discuss the next steps. The company stated that, despite recent investments in its product range and digital offerings, the review of its Irish operations concluded that continuing to trade was no longer viable given the volatile market conditions.
In contrast, the parent company in the UK will not be affected by these changes and will continue to operate its 344 stores and online presence as usual. Meanwhile, the closure of all Irish stores is planned in the coming days, with a subsequent reopening later in the month for a clearance sale, offering a final opportunity for customers to purchase remaining stock.
