Türkiye is making strides in rail technology with its first homegrown high-speed train set to undergo dynamic track tests in late 2025, according to Transportation Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu. The train, developed by Turkish Railway Vehicles Industries Inc. (TURASAŞ), will have a top speed of 225 kph and a capacity of 584 passengers spread across eight cars. Uraloğlu emphasized that the train's construction uses entirely domestic resources, highlighting the nation's transformation into a self-reliant producer of railway vehicles.

The design phase is expected to be completed by the last quarter of 2024, after which the assembly phase will commence. Uraloğlu noted that this train follows Türkiye’s introduction of national electric trains and further showcases the country's commitment to infrastructure development.

The high-speed train will feature the latest technological innovations, including ghost screen technology, contactless charging stations, and advanced lighting and seating arrangements. The project also benefits from collaboration with TÜBITAK’s Rail Transportation Technologies Institute, which developed the National Traction System and Train Control Management System for the project. This partnership ensures that critical components are produced using local resources.

Uraloğlu further highlighted that all design processes are being carried out in compliance with international standards, ensuring a high level of safety and efficiency.
