The German company Mubea, a global leader in automotive component manufacturing, is poised to begin production in Derventa, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Christian Carius, the company's director of corporate development and government affairs, confirmed the plans exclusively to BiznisInfo.ba.

This comes after earlier speculation linked Mubea to a potential facility in Prnjavor. Carius clarified the focus on Derventa for the initial launch but indicates that Prnjavor remains a possibility for the future.

Already registered in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the company currently employs 90 people. The Derventa plant is planned to open in early 2025, driven by the need to meet customer delivery deadlines.

"At present, we have 90 employees. With favourable development, we anticipate reaching 1,000 employees by 2030 or 2032," Carius stated.

Biznisinfo.ba has learned that Mubea plans to invest approximately €38 million in Bosnia and Herzegovina over the next eight years. The registered company, led by Bernhard Spielvogel, will focus on the production of plastic plates, sheets, pipes, and profiles.

Globally renowned, Mubea employs over 14,000 across 48 worldwide locations, with revenues surpassing €3 billion in 2022. The Bosnia and Herzegovina facility aligns with similar Mubea automotive parts plants in Austria, the Czech Republic, and Morocco.

The investment is set to bolster Derventa's already favourable economic standing. Following significant wartime damage, the city has seen a recent economic resurgence. With over 868 economic entities (33 being foreign companies) and more than 7,000 employed workers, Derventa also boasts a positive pensioner-to-worker ratio.

"Derventa's exports amount to 14,500 KM per resident, totalling roughly 400 million KM. Imports are 356 million KM, showcasing a positive trade balance," stated Mayor Milorad Simić.

Local authorities anticipate maintaining Derventa's position as one of the most economically developed areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina, thanks to its healthy budget, minimal debt, and substantial development investments.
