In response to increasing reports of Range Rover thefts and escalating insurance premiums, JLR has announced a £1 million investment to support police efforts in curbing vehicle crime in the UK. The funding will be used to bolster police operations in theft hotspots, enhance intelligence gathering, and establish a new national policing unit dedicated to tackling vehicle theft.

The company has faced criticism for the vulnerability of its luxury vehicles, particularly the Range Rover, to theft. JLR's CEO, Adrian Mardell, previously refuted claims that Range Rovers were the most stolen vehicles in Britain, but acknowledged the severity of the issue and emphasised the company's efforts to improve security.

The investment in police resources is the latest in a series of initiatives by JLR to address the issue. The company has introduced its own insurance products to assist customers struggling to obtain cover and is actively collaborating with law enforcement by sharing information and providing training to officers.

Furthermore, JLR asserts that it has made significant strides in enhancing the security of its vehicles. Data from the Police National Computer indicates that since January 2022, only 0.2% of new Range Rovers and Range Rover Sports have been stolen.
