German aviation company Lilium and Swiss nickel refinery KL1 have announced plans to establish new facilities in France, with a joint investment totalling €700 million. French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire revealed the significant investment on Sunday, highlighting the potential for job creation and technological advancement in the country.

Lilium, known for its development of electric jet aircraft, will invest €400 million in a new factory that is expected to generate up to 850 jobs. Although the exact location within the Nouvelle Aquitaine region is yet to be determined, the plant will play a crucial role in the production of Lilium's cutting-edge aircraft.

Meanwhile, KL1's new nickel refinery site in Blanquefort, near Bordeaux, will involve a €300 million investment and create 200 new positions. The facility will bolster France's industrial capabilities and contribute to the country's efforts to strengthen its value chains.

These investments come as French President Emmanuel Macron prepares to launch the annual "Choose France" business summit, aimed at attracting foreign investment. Le Maire emphasized the summit's importance in bringing capital, innovative technologies, and addressing gaps in various sectors.

The combined investment from Lilium and KL1 demonstrates a strong vote of confidence in the French economy and its potential for growth in advanced manufacturing and green technologies.
